I recently had to import DVD to Premiere Pro to edit for a client and it had been so long since I had done it, I had to stop and think about it for a while.

I thought that this resource might be helpful for those out there who are in the same boat. To be honest though, it’s actually REALLY easy!

• Copy VOB files to computer and duplicate (this way you have a back-up in case something goes wrong)
  • You need to be able to change the file extension from .VOB to .MPG
    • If you can’t see the file extension, go to
      • Start
      • Control Panel
      • Folder Options
      • Select “View” tab from the top
      • Uncheck the box “Hide extensions for known file types”
      • Click apply
      • If you want to reverse this after you are done, go back in and check the same box
      • When asked if you want to change the file extension, select “yes”
• Import .MPG files to Premiere Pro as per usual and you are done

I told you this one was easy!

I guess it was only a matter of time really until we were able to edit our video content online.

With the speed of the internet these days, uploading a video has gone from a long and arduous process to one of relative simplicity. Gone are the days when you had to figure out the exact and specific settings to save your video before upload. I remember I had a very long list of specifications I needed to follow before before I could even consider putting something of decent quality on YouTube.

Well now, things have moved along and you can upload your videos in full quality if you like and YouTube figures out the rest for you. Phew!

Here’s the kicker. YouTube has now put a (very basic) editor within their test tube area. You can actually do basic crops and join multiple videos in a single timeline before resaving them for broadcast. You can even replace your initial (probably crap) audio track with one of the thousands of approved songs they have the rights to use.

Sure, this is extremely primitive, though c’mon people, what did you expect.

It is at least a step in the right direction and I’m sure that in the very near future, you will have a full functioning video editor available at your disposal free of charge.

There are so many things to consider before dipping your toes in the water in the market of online real estate.

The average movie in PAL is 25 fps or frames per second as the human eye and brain does not work fast enough to be able to process information any faster than this.

If a picture tells a thousand words, does that mean a video is telling you 25,000 per second or 1.5 million words per minute? It probably is.

The topic today really is about using video as a strong marketing tool. Not only is it a powerful way (when used well) to tell a story, video suprisingly enough is also great for SEO when used the right way. Video uploaded to YouTube is indexed by google very quickly, so it pays to get the right keywords in there.

If you upload the video to multiple video sites, using tools such as traffic geyser and tubemogul, it multiplies the effect again.

Even though a video does not equal text, which is Google friendly, the text associated with that video it. More to the point, YouTube has already announced that soon all videos uploaded will be automatically read by computer and turned into its text equivalent. Can you imagine how powerful it will be when you can say something that is understood by Google?

The technology is originally being prepared to assist the hearing impaired in enjoying the wonders of the internet, though it already has SEO experts salivating at the prospect.

Maybe you should start to think about a video strategy for your online campaigns!

Let’s be honest. There are so many different options when it comes to selecting a platform on which to build a website these days.

Most web design companies lead you to believe that there is only one way… theirs.

I searched high and low over a long period and experimented with over a dozen platforms that come highly recommended. Everything from the good old Microsoft Front Page, through to a custom built CMS.

The things to consider when choosing a platform include, though are not limited to:
